Jay Z-Solange elevator fight was a stunt? Beyonce’s father reveals

jay-z-solange-meme-2Their tour and marriage was the biggest story of the summer — but did Beyonce and Jay-Z just punk us all?

According to Bey’s dad and former manager, the couple orchestrated a “Jedi mind trick” to help boost tour and album sales. The piece de resistance? That infamous elevator fight with Solange.

During an appearance on Houston’s Roula and Ryan Show on 104.1 KRBE, Mathew Knowles claimed that the incident was pre-planned in an effort to boost album and ticket sales.

“[They needed something to] ignight that tour. It’s called a Jedi mind trick. A Jedi mind trick fools you a lot of times,” he said. “All I know is everyone is talking about it. Ticket sales went up, Solange’s album sales went up 200 percent…”

A publicity stunt? In Hollywood? Say it isn’t so.

But let’s remember: Bey has a strained relationship with her dad. He andBeyonce’s mother Tina were divorced back in 2010, and Bey fired him as her manager the following year. Mathew claims to still be the manager of Destiny’s Child. During his chat on the Roula and Ryan Show, Mathew Knowles hinted that the trio may release a new album and may go back on tour together in the next year. We wouldn’t be mad about a Destiny’s Child reunion – but we’re not holding our breath, either.

For what it’s worth, Bey’s mother Tina said that “everything’s perfect” with regards to her daughter’s marriage just last week.

NEWS: Beyonce Accepts VMA From Jay Z and Blue Ivy

For her part, Bey successfully put all those divorce rumors to rest when she accepted the Video Vanguard Award at the MTV VMAs on Sunday from daughter Blue Ivy (marking the tot’s first TV appearance) and her hubby. In her brief speech, she thanked her “Blue Blue” and her “beloved.” She also addressed the elevator fight in her new “Flawless” remix, released earlier this month.
