Armed robbers last Sunday attacked and robbed female students of the Sunyani Nursing Training College in the Brong Ahafo Region.
According to the Brong Ahafo Regional Police Command Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASP Christopher Tawiah, the incident occurred around dawn Sunday while the students were sleeping.
Briefing the media, ASP Tawiah revealed that no student was harmed but the students lost valuables, including mobile phones, laptops and unspecified amount on money.
He said they observed that the metal gate leading to the dormitory where the female students were was not locked so the armed robbers had the opportunity to enter the place to steal the items.
“Because the metal gate leading to the female dormitory was not locked, it gave the armed robbers a free day to come to the place to steal the items from the female students.”
He said the police were still investigating the incident to find the culprits, and called for support from the public.
A victim who spoke to The Finder on condition of anonymity said though the armed robbers did not harm any of them, they forced them to take the items from them.
She said in the process she lost her Galaxy mobile phone while some of her colleagues lost some unspecified amount of cash.
