83650388b37f60c1781efbfd7f83467c_LBoxing showman, Braimah Kamoko, aka Bukom Banku, last Saturday made a passionate appeal to President John Dramani Mahama to help build a modern boxing gym to harness the boxing talents in the community.

He said unlike football, boxing had been starved of investment even though the sport had won more glory for the nation than any other sport.

“Boxing has brought us a lot of medals and fame even though we put more money in football,” he said.

Banku made the appeal when the President led a clean-up exercise at the Odododiodoo Constituency last Saturday to rid the area of filth.

The Bukom community, located in the Odododiodio Constituency, is also known to have produced most of the country’s boxing legends including Azumah Nelson, Alfred Kotey, Ike Quartey, Bukom Banku and Ayittey Powers.

President Mahama urged corporate bodies in the country to invest more in boxing to revive the sport to produce more champions.

He also called on the Ministry of Youth and Sports to liaise with the chiefs in the area to secure a land for the construction of a boxing gym in the area.
