The Majority Leader in Parliament, Alban Bagbin is said to be in a stable condition after been hospitalised at the 37 Military Hospital on Thursday, according to the Majority Chief Whip, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak.
Bagbin was rushed to the hospital when he suddenly took ill during Parliamentary proceedings.
Muntaka Mubarak stated that due to the emergency recall of law makers, the leadership of the House has been extremely busy.
He said the newly sworn in Majority leader started experiencing dizzy spells because he forgot to take his breakfast.
Narrating the incident to Citi News, he said: “This morning when he got to the office, he forgot to take his breakfast and so he started feeling dizzy but fortunately, we had some of our colleagues who were doctors so they could see that he was running out and virtually getting weak.”
The leadership of Parliament visited Bagbin at the hospital later in the day and according to the Asawase MP, Ghanaians should be rest assured that the Nadowli Kaleo MP is currently in a good state of health.
“I can assure you that it wasn’t anything serious. He is very fine and they were preparing him to go home,” he added.
Parliament resumed sitting on Wednesday for a week-long special meeting during which the Legislators considerd a number of new multi-million dollar loan and other agreements for approval.
Mr. Bagbin has been in news lately after describing members of the Council of State as “errand boys”
His return to Parliament as Majority leader has also reignited the debate over his earlier corruption allegations against members of parliament.
