Apart from teaching me in his chambers, Nana Addo gave me wife – Joe Ghartey

6092984671290_8342630835198Joe Ghartey, Member of Parliament (MP) for Essikado in the Sekondi- Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region, last Tuesday made a startling revelation to the effect that he actually met his lovely wife, Efua Ghartey, while he was working as a young lawyer at Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s chambers.

“Apart from the fact that Nana Akufo-Addo taught me in his chambers as a young lawyer, I also met a beautiful lady in the same chambers who is now my wife. So I can say, Nana Addo gave me a wife”, he underscored. Joe Ghartey, a legal luminary and former Attorney General, joined the law firm, Akufo-Addo, Prempeh & Co. – one of the leading law firms in Ghana.

This was after he had taken up a job as an Associate at the chambers of Lawyer Gwira in Sekondi.

Joe Ghartey later left Nana Addo’s firm and cofounded Ghartey & Ghartey with his wife Efua Ghartey.

Explaining probably one of the reasons why he had thrown his unflinching support behind Nana Addo towards the NPP’s presidential primary on Saturday, Joe Ghartey stressed that he had known the two-time NPP flagbearer for some years now.

Mr. Ghartey, current Deputy Speaker of Parliament, was speaking at a mini-rally which was attended by the party’s * delegates from about seven constituencies in the region at Effia near Takoradi, as part of the two-day campaign tour of Nana Akufo- Addo in the Western Region.

“After completing the law school I once had the opportunity to interact with Nana Addo and after speaking with him, I knew I wanted to work with him. Subsequently, I worked with Nana”, he maintained.

He therefore implored the delegates in Saturday’s congress, particularly those in the Western Region, to vote massively for Nana Addo.

Trial and Error

Papa Owusu-Ankom- ah, MP for Sekondi, told the delegates to think beyond Saturday’s congress and realize that whoever would be elected as the flagbearer would become the next president of Ghana.

Papa Owusu Ankomah has therefore admonished delegates not to elect a “trial and error presidential candidate” when they go to the polls on Saturday to elect a presidential candidate for the Party ahead of the 2016 election. the 2016 election.

“I appeal to you to be minded of the fact that the exercise we are going to undertake on Saturday is not one of trial and error. We don’t need a trial and error presidential candidate. You need a candidate who has proven himself over time that he is not only a candidate, but also a good leader for the party and for the nation.

“Our selection of a flagbearer for the NPP this Saturday is about the country. Nana Addo is tried and tested and I know he is the best for the NPP in the next general elections”, he noted.

Nana Addo told the gathering that one of the legacies he would want to leave behind when elected as president, was that Ghanaians would realize that it was under his term of office that the country became better.
