Ex-Prez Kufour is corrupt just like Prez Mahama

852778015_740716According to a member of the communication team of the Progressive People’s Party [PPP], Charles Owusu, ex-president Kufour has over the years been presented as “holy” in the public eye but he less deserves such an honor.

He explained that, the former leader’s role in the selling and rebranding of Merchant Bank now Universal Merchant Bank is a clear case to tag Kufour as fraudulent.

The sale of Merchant Bank which became a major topic for discussion some months back was believed to have been sealed with some irregularities.

The Centre for Freedom and Accuracy led by Andrew Awuni who was then a former press secretary to president Kufuor went to court to challenge the sale of the 90% stake to Fortiz who are now owners of the bank.

Andrew Awuni and the NPP described the sale as illegal and wanted it reverted to the original owners – the Social Security and National Insurance Trust.

While the sale of Merchant Bank was characterised with chaos and controversy, the rebranding ceremony of the bank was in absolute tranquility with high profile statesmen attending including ex-president Kufour and his former Chief of Staff, Kwadwo Mpiani.

But the decision to attend became a bone of contention as many believed Mr. Kufour was behind the sale of the bank.

Speaking on Adom FM, PPP’s Charles Owusu stated categorically without any provocation that, Mr. Kufour and President John Dramani Mahama have the same mindset of governing.

To him, the duo have no system in fighting corruption in Ghana since they both personally practice the canker.

“Kufour [Ex-president] is corrupt like President Mahama. They are both the same,” he bemoaned.
