Legendary Hi-life Singer Charles Kwadwo Ofosu, popularly known as DL (Daddy Lumba) has assured Ghanaians that he is fit enough to appear on all the numerous shows he has been billed to perform on within the next few weeks through to the Christmas festivities.
DL disclosed this when he mounted the stage at the just ended maiden edition of Television Awards Ghana on Friday October 10, 2014 at the National Theatre. The “Yen tie obia” hit maker came on stage to meet a charged waiting crowd already standing to dance to his classic tunes.
He thanked God Almighty for keeping him alive and everybody present for coming. He also congratulated all nominees of the awards saying “I want you to know you are all winners”.
What perhaps attracted the loudest cheer from the crowd was when he said “I am happy to say that I am 50 and still fit. I am 50 and still fit”, he emphasized as he waved his hands.
He dropped his hit song “Yene wo sre kwa” and got the crowd dancing and singing along but what shook the very foundation of the National Theatre was when he performed the sensational “Yen tie obia” hit song which was what everybody was waiting for. The song which is perhaps the biggest hit yet in 2014 had everybody singing and screaming from beginning to end.
DL, who mimed his songs, performed three songs and ended his performance with “Yen tie obia”. He revealed that his performance was just a teaser and prelude to an elaborate performance with live band on Christmas Eve with the music maestro Kojo Antwi on the same stage. “Watch out for me and Kojo Antwi on 24th December on this same stage”, he disclosed before he exited the stage.
Other performance on the night was by silky voiced Singer Kwabena Kwabena who treated the ladies to a repertoire of his love songs including the controversial “Adult Music”. He gave a good account of himself as always and gave the patrons a performance worth their money.
Comedian and Actress Valentina Nana Agyiewaa aka Afia Schwarzenegger also got the audience laughing with her antics and fanny comments when she came on stage, as well as Kwame Dzokoto.
KSM was also billed to perform and re-enact some of his passed sold out shows including “The Saga of the Returnee”, “Afia Srebuo” among others but for some reason he was not seen on stage or anywhere close to the auditorium.
