Thousands of graduates who come out of universities and other tertiary institutions every year are unable to find job placements either in the public or private sectors.
This increasing number of young and youthful graduates without jobs poses a serious threat to society.
Since 2007, youth unemployment has increased by more than four million, putting the current global rate at 12.6 per cent (ILO, 2012).
President John Dramani Mahama acknowledged that the growing numbers of unemployed graduates in the country poses a threat to the society.
Dr Kwesi Aning, a Security Analyst believes that the current unemployment rate in the country could have serious consequences for national security.
It is for this reason that, Mr Delali Kwasi Dake, established Jobwebghana.com to link job seekers to employers in the country.
The founder, who is a social entrepreneur and also a lecturer, at one of the public universities in the country, said he started the portal last year to provide help to graduates seeking jobs in various sectors of the economy.
He said the company has engineered a strategic search engine “optimisation mechanism” to make Jobwebghana.com google friendly.
“If you search for anything relating to jobs in Ghana, we should be placed top on the list, we have achieved that successfully,” he added.
He said the best most outstanding benefit the portal provides for graduates is the ‘Article University.’
“We have deployed a regular about 140 CV and cover letter page for all course areas for graduates that could earn them an interview.
He said some graduates find jobs through the site without actually applying for one; this is because the site creates room for graduates and job seekers to upload their CV, where employees visit to scan for them.
As the only Ghanaian owned job website in four African regions, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa, Mr Dake has found the bridge of exposing the African continent to the top jobsite.
Four months, after establishing JobWebGhana.com, a member of the JobWeb Group, the Founder discovered East Africa’s fastest growing Jobs Website, JobWebKenya.com.
This brought the idea of a registered owned company JobWeb Group Ltd.
“JobWebGhana.com is ranked as the top two most visited Jobs Website in Ghana by alexa.com and ranked as the best SEO placed Jobs Website by Google.
JobWebGhana.com has more than 1.5 Million views in a month and for Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, the company has a combined view of two million in a month, a growth the founder says he is proud of.
Giving advice to graduates who want to establish their own businesses, Mr Dake said, he believes in working for passion and let his passion bring money.
He said for the teeming youth interested in starting a company, must be disciplined, hardworking and determined to succeed.
“In four years’ time JobWeb Group has the vision of establishing a physical address in four Africa Region, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa and Nigeria,” he said.
With the massive numbers, Mr Dake noted that Jobweb Group would employ about 100 Ghanaians and deploy them in the African sub-region within the next few years.
