Mason dies attempting to openly defecate

open-defecation-600x330Residents of Anlokordzi, a suburb of Ho in the Volta regional were thrown into a state of shock and agony in the early hours of Sunday when a 34 year old man was found dead in a gutter.

The deceased Francis Lorlor Adenyo, a popular mason and father of two; identified by the wife Comfort Atsitsogbui met his untimely death when he went out to defecate in a huge drain.

Police preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was smelling of alcohol and might have possibly slipped and fallen into the big drain when he was attending to nature’s call.

The Police also came to the conclusion because his trouser was sagging at the time his body was found.

Open defecation has been cited as one of the major reasons for the current outbreak of cholera which has killed about 100 people so far and affected nearly 20,000 people in the country.

In September, the number of cholera cases in the Volta Region saw a significant rise with over 400 cases, killing six people.

The number rose from an initial figure of 201 on September 28, 2014.

  1. I don’t believe this man went there to deficate as it is being reported because the area of town that this happened is a very fearful part of town and many years ago when we were growing up in that vicinity no body walks around that area especially alone at that hour of the night. I call on the security agencies to investigate this case and get to the root of it.
