With his aggressive defence of government issues in all sectors, from education, energy, sports, agriculture, governance, corruption, etc – one would have considered Allotey Jacobs as a regular visitor to the seat of government, thus, the Flagstaff House where he will be briefed on government’s daily activities.
But if your guess is the same as the layman who only hears the Central Regional Communications Director of the governing National Democratic Congress [NDC], Allotey Jacobs’s indefatigable deep-provocative voice on major radio stations across the country in defence of government issues to always be at the Flagstaff House, then you are amiss.
The “Educated Fisherman” as affectionately called in politics, has revealed that, despite his role (however insignificant it might be) in seeing John Dramani Mahama elected as President, he has never been invited to the presidential palace [Flagstaff House] in Accra which serves as a the office of the President.
He noted that, unlike his party comrades who visits the presidency often on daily basis, “I [Allotey Jacobs] don’t even know the road to the Flagstaff House]”.
Speaking on Adom FM, the NDC member stated categorically that, “I have never been to the Flagstaff House. My last time at the presidency was Late Prof. Atta Mills regime…and that was even at the Castle, Osu.”
His assertions raised questions as to whether he has been shelved by the alleged “Mahama boys” who once denied Alban Bagbin access to the president at the Flagstaff House some months ago.
But Allotey Jacobs repudiated the allegations and insisted that, he has a very cordial relationship with the president.
“I am very close to President Mahama but we don’t meet at the Flagstaff House,” he confirmed.
Adding that, “I hope soon I will visit the Flagstaff House and see how they operate over there. The president is my very good friend”.
