A top businessman is said to have abetted Nayele Ametefe also known as Angel, Ruby Adu Gyamfi, Ruby Appiah, Ruby Mahama, Irene Tawiah, the lady accused of smuggling cocaine to the United Kingdoms (UK).Hannah Tetteh, Minister for Foreign Affairs made this disclosure in an interview on Radio Gold, Tuesday.
Even though she did not disclose the name of the person, she said “”The person who made the call is a business man. I don’t want to give his name because investigations are still ongoing… to the best of my knowledge that business man is not related to any member of the president’s immediate family and by immediate family I mean his brothers and sisters”.
The Foreign Minister in the same interview also reiterated that Miss Ametefeh did not travel with a diplomatic passport.
According to her, “since I became a Foreign Affairs Minister, I have not authorized the issuance of a diplomatic passport to Nayele Ametefeh, alias Ruby Adu Gyamfi or whatever name she may be using…I am the only person who can authorize a diplomatic passport. If any of my staff issue a Diplomatic passport from the passport office without my prior authorization, that essentially means that they have attempted to commit an unlawful act,” She added.
Meanwhile, 9 more people have been arrested in connection with this case. They are two ladies said to have travelled with Nayele on the day of the arrest: Nana Akua Amponsah and Sadalia Sandra Nuhu. These two were said to have absconded leaving their baggage behind immediately Nayele was picked up by the police at the Heathrow International Airport.
The rest are: Paa Kwesi Acquah, Mustapha Kilba, Faisal Khadar (American), Abdullah Mustrah, Mouiw Jaafar, Charbel Nasr (all Labanese) and Mariotto Benard Young (Indian).
Earlier, three persons were arrested, including an assistant Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Abiel Ashitey Armah. |
