The army seized power on Friday after Compaore’s resignation and named Lieutenant Colonel Isaac Zida as the leader of a transitional government.
The country has since closed it borders to several African countries, including Ghana due to the political insecurity in the country.
The African Union (AU) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) have condemned the military take over, with ECOWAS president John Dramani Mahama saying the regional bloc will not “recognize any ascension to power through non constitutional means.”
