The Black Stars striker has admitted situation could have changed at Marseille if he had stayed, but insists he has no regrets leaving the Stade Velodromme
Ghana international striker Jordan Ayew insists he was right to push his way out of Olympique Marseille, despite talks to extend his stay.
The 23-year-old was farmed out to relegated side Sochaux in January till the end of last season after falling down the pecking order in the dressing room, but opted to finally bow out of the Marseille setup to join Lorient.
“We all know what happened in Marseille. I did not want to go back. The president wanted to
keep me but I did not want to stay,” Ayew told France Football.
“I know that if I was patient, I would have played in Marseille. But that’s because I was told some things that did not suit me, so I left.”
“It’s not that I’m someone impatient, but I do not like being taken for a fool, that’s all. It was
me who did not want to stay. I regret nothing,” the Ghana striker added.
