The Barcelona president has warned the defender that he must improve his behaviour after he was involved in a number of incidents this term
Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu has urged Gerard Pique to bring an end to his off-the-field indiscretions and focus on his performances.
The Spain international has been struggling to find his best form this season and has made headlines for his behaviour off the pitch as well as a dip in his playing standards.
Pique was involved in an accident with the police about a parked car, before angering head coach Luis Enrique by using his mobile phone in the dugout during a match.
Bartomeu has stressed he has no long-term concerns over the centre-back but has called on him to focus his efforts on performances once more.
“Pique isn’t playing with the same continuity as before, but there’s no problem with him,” Bartomeu told 8TV.
“We have spoken with him about some incidents and he knows what we think. These things shouldn’t be happening.
“I hope that this is the end of it. Pique – and all other players – should be focused on his job.”
The 27-year-old has started just five La Liga appearances so far this term but recently vowed to stay at the club and fight for his place under Luis Enrique.
