The hypocrisy and selectiveness of Sekondi-Takoradi City Authorities

takoradi-marketYou see them in their neatly ironed uniforms
Some in Green/White Top with a nicely ironed pair of Trousers to match
Others are seen in all- Khaki attire and a few others in Mufti

But they almost always have a single selective Agenda; Brandishing clubs and cudgels in the Central Business District Area chasing up, persecuting, brutalising and inconviencing the lives of harmless, helpless, gullible and pitiful but industrious market women from Dawn to Dusk

The crime of these poor enterprising women is that, they cause congestion and inconvenience at the Central Business District Area of Takoradi

As a result, Bulk of the wares of these poor women, including perishable edibles are seized and kept at the rather dilapidated, ramshacled and unkempt offices of these city personnel for Rodents, cocroaches and other poisonous insects to hover and feed on it.

And how much do these poor market women even get from the sale of these Oranges, tomatoes, pepper, onion, garden eggs, plantain, cassava, smoked fish just to mention a few? Decongestion Exercise? Excellent! I doff off my hat to those who initiated it!

But what has happened to the commercial drivers who keep on flouting the rules with impunity and impudence? From the Liberation Road through the Ahanta Road to the Collins Avenue…
What about those Taxi Drivers who have virtually turned the rather busy Road opposite the MTN office to a Taxi Rank?

And could these city Authorities also say for a truth before the long bearded father above that they have never set eyes on Taxis and other commercial vehicles that have also converted the Road stretching from Day by Day Pharmacy to First Samuel Ent to a Cargo station?
Better still, hasn’t any complaint of a sort been heard by these ‘uncompromising’ Task force?
Because at least, the little noise on Radio about these lawlessness have been deafening enough to prompt even the deaf and dumb

OR is the so called Decongestion Targeted at ONLY these poor, helpless and feeble market women?

Look at the uncompromising posture with which the so called Decongestion Task force led by Mr Gorkemiah evicted those who sell fruits and vegetables opposite the Market Circle Post Office

Has the Task force suddenly lose the prowess, vim, vigour and gusto to decend on other illegal occupants elsewhere?

This is so puzzling!
It’s unfathomable!
So mind boggling!
It completely flies in the face of Justice and regard for Rule of law
