The story is one of shock and disbelief and the scene gory and ghastly. The people of Aboaso, near Ntonso in the Ashanti Region, horrified by the action of a 70-year-old retired teacher are yet to come to terms with what happened in their community Saturday.

The man stabbed a 16- year-old girl to death at after allegedly raping her.

Ben Addai, is currently in the grips of the Mampongten Police Station.

He was arrested at Adum after trying run away from his actions and their consequences.

Neighbours say Mr Addai invited the minor — a form two student of the Asante Juapong Junior High School — into his room at 4am Saturday.

They later saw the girl stagger out of the old man’s room naked and her intestines gushing out.

A neighbour, Emmanuel Kesse, saw the dying girl and rushed her to the hospital where she died. He later reported the incident to the Mampongten police.

Doctors at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), where the 16-year-old was rushed, found semen in her vagina.

Kumasi-based Luv FM’s Erastus Asare Donkor says the distraught mother of the deceased 16-year-old, Sadia Adusei, is not sure whether the minor entered Mr Addai’s room by herself or she was forced.

But the victim, before she died, is reported to have told doctors at KATH the 70-year-old man was her boyfriend.

The villagers have been wondering why the 70-year-old man must have stabbed the girl after raping her.

But the 16-year-old, according to the man who rushed her to the hospital, said the retired teacher was angry with her for persistently refusing him sex even though she had been taking money from him.

Ben Addai has meanwhile told police he mistook the girl for an armed robber.
