Armed robbers kill Melcom security man

40566844Suspected robbers who broke into the Madina Melcom branch have killed the security man on duty after breaking in on Monday dawn.

The unidentified persons were reported to have stormed the facility and murdered the security man when he attempted to fend them off.

According to preliminary investigations, they hit his head with an unknown object, killing him instantly.

Confirming the incident to Citi News, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Accra Police Command, ASP Afia Tenge said:  “Upon the arrival of the Police, we realized that the security man who was at post was dead. He had been hit with something on the head and he died.”According to her, the robbery took place around 12:20 am to 1:30 am on Monday.

She stated that although some items were stolen from the shop, the Police is yet to speak to management of Melcom to ascertain the number of items which were taken from there.

ASP Tenge added that the Police “will be speaking to management and we will be doing our preliminary investigations to ascertain actually what happened and then we can take it from there.”
