James Kwabena Bomfeh Jnr., Former National Youth Organizer of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has chastised the Chief Scribe of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia accusing him of posing as a “dictator” in the party.
According to Kwabena Bomfeh, also called Kabila, Asiedu Nketia bears the “Rawlings dictatorial tendencies” in him and has been proudly displaying such tendencies in the NDC.
Speaking on Peace FM‘s “Kokrokoo“, he expressed disappointment in Asiedu Nketia, popularly known as General Mosquito, for rooting for some candidates to take up certain party’s leadership positions ahead of the NDC Primaries.
In his conviction, General Mosquito may have to live to fight another battle after the primaries even if his favourites win the Delegates’ votes.
Kabila was also displeased with the posture of General Mosquito on certain decisions made by President John Mahama.
To him, General Mosquito’s impudence towards the President is more or less insulting to the Office of the President.
He made this comment regarding a decision by President Mahama to dismiss a District Chief Executive, name Twum Barima; which the party’s General Secretary is said to have also issued a statement calling for his re-instatement.
Hon Barima was sacked for what the government says is conduct unbecoming of a public official for his infamous ‘tweaa’ pronouncement.
However, the NDC’s National Executive Committee (NEC), in a statement issued on Sunday March 30, 2014, asked the President to “reconsider his decision” and reinstate Hon. Gabriel Barima.
Barima was first forgiven after storming out of a public event when a member of the audience heckled him. He quickly shot to fame after that incident and the word “tweaa” gain international recognition. The Ahafo Ano DCE was fired a month later after he was heard describing his gaffe as an achievement in an interview with an Accra based radio station.
But to the NDC’s NEC (though some National Executives denied taking such a decision at the meeting), the president would not have dismissed the “tweaa DCE” if he had the full facts of the matter available to him.
The CPP activist however slammed the NDC’s General Secretary for his open comments.
“The General Secretary has the impudence in clear violation of our constitutional provision because the constitution has no respect for a party’s General Secretary when there’s a President; hold a press conference to say that if the President had the full facts, he wouldn’t have taken the decision he took. Insulting the President in the face; Asiedu Nketia did that!” he exclaimed.
