The 20-year-old driver who sodomised a 12-year-old primary two pupil of a private school in Ashaiman has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment by the Ashaiman Circuit Court presided over by Lydia Osei Marfor.

Nana Boakye, the convict, was said to have lured the victim into a bush and forcibly had sexual intercourse with him through his anus.

The convict pleaded guilty before he was sentenced on the charge of defilement of a child under 16 years contrary to Section 101 of Act 29/60 as amended by Section 11 of Act 554/98.

Besides the incarceration, Nana Boakye was also asked by the court to compensate his victim with an amount of GH¢2,000 which should be used in paying for his medical treatment.

Chief Inspector Mary Assan said the victim lives with his parents at Gbetsile near Michel Camp in the Kpone-Katamanso District of Accra (KKDA) while Nana Boakye is a resident of Kakasunaka Number 1 near Michel Camp.

On October 25, 2014 at about 9am, Nana Boakye went to Gbetsile and saw the victim in front of his house. He subsequently engaged the victim in a conversation and after a while managed to lure the victim into the bush.

On entering the bush, Nana Boakye had unnatural carnal knowledge of the victim, after which he inserted some leaves in the victim’s anus and warned him not to disclose the act to anyone.

On reaching home the victim narrated his ordeal to the complainant, Moses Tetteh Patu, the father of the victim, who immediately went with the victim in search of Nana Boakye.

The convict was later found not too far away from the scene and was arrested by the complainant and handed over to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ashaiman Divisional Police Command.

A medical form which was given to the victim’s father to send his son to the hospital was later returned to the Divisional DOVVSU duly signed by a medical doctor, which confirmed that the unnamed victim had been sodomised.

Nana Boakye admitted the offence in his caution statement to the police and after investigation he was charged and put before the court which subsequently sentenced him to 15 years imprisonment.

The convict broke down and wept like a baby just before the court read its verdict and had to be calmed down by detectives who escorted suspects to the court for various offences.

He was later led off in a police vehicle to start his sentence of 15 years with hard labour.
