Groom abandons bride at Registry

runaway38It played out like a comedy scene when a 57 year-old man, Valentine, abandoned his bride-to-be and took to his heels during their marriage registration ceremony at Oredo Local Government Council marriage registry in Benin, Edo state.

Valentine reportedly abandoned the marriage formalities when his wife of 17 years and mother of his four children, stormed the venue to disrupt the marriage.

Narrating what led to the marriage interruption, the already legally and embattled wife disclosed that her husband left his responsibilities to the family for years and was about to start life again with another woman.

“I had to do this because I’m convinced my husband must have been bewitched by the lady because since the rumour began making the rounds, he has stopped taking care of his four children. Each time he is confronted to provide money for our upkeep, he often complained of not having money,” she explained.
