Joey B impressed me in 2014 – He’s done what Napoleon couldn’t do

Joey-B-WaveAlmost invariably, Artistes concentrate and help an up and coming colleague only when their fame is dissipating; better put, when they are about to retire or have retired and use their fame as a springboard to introduce a new one.

The truth is, if I am to mark Joey B’s fame over 10, I will score him 3/10. Rising to fame with his fleeting smash hit, ‘Tonga,’ Joey B had recognition all around the country. After ‘tonga,’ Joey B is struggling to stay relevant and even though he has been featured on a lot of songs, none of them has made that mark  the composers expected.

As a ‘struggling’ Artiste who is looking for a way to come out stronger than ‘tonga’ took him, it would be prudent on the side of any discerning Artiste of his kind to concentrate on his works and prove to all and sundry that he indeed deserves the ‘Discovery of the year’ awarded him last year.

Call Joey B the ‘saviour’ of Pappy Kojo. The Italy based Takoradi Artiste, Pappy Kojo who has been doing music even before GTV started 7 PM news bulleting has effortlessly tried to be on radio and TV in Ghana but to no avail. Joey B, a feather weight Artiste in Ghana solely carried Pappy kojo on his shoulders to give him a breakthrough in the music industry.

I was impressed the more when during the Vodafone X concert at University of Cape Coast (UCC), the undergraduates who rarely pay attention to showbiz could sing along the songs performed by Pappy Kojo and Joey B. “Pappy na abedze bio ne realer no? Realer no a, realer no nya ame!” who reading this article would say he/she has not heard this phrase? If UCC students who are noted for ‘book long’ could even sing along, then it is a clear indication Joey B did a good work on Pappy Kojo.

Joe B deserves a path on his back for the bold and selfless step he took to make a fellow brother get a firm stand in the industry. Not even known Artistes doing well in the industry have even been able to do such a thing.

If I am to boldly posit any Artiste who has impressed me in 2014, Joey B first comes to mind. Bravo bruv!
