Juju robbers arrested

juju-620x400FIVE SUSPECTED highway robbers who reportedly practise voodoo, also known as ‘juju,’ to supposedly give them ‘good luck’ before they embark on a robbery expedition, have been apprehended.

The suspects, described by the police as very deadly who operate with offensive weapons, are Dey Donne, Fuseini Musah, Mumuni Sulley, Razak Abdula and Yassite Grumah.

The police arrested them at Kunsu where they were hiding after they had allegedly embarked on a highway robbery at a spot between Domeabra and Wiaso Highway on December 12, 2014.

Among the items that the police found on them were talisman, fowl and other strange items which they purportedly use to conjure spiritual powers to aid them in their robbery attacks.

One locally made pistol, two live cartridges and a sharp knife were found in the room of the suspected deadly hoodlums when police conducted a thorough search of the place.

Addressing the media, DCOP Kofi Boakye, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, said on December 12, five armed men wearing masks, blocked the road between Domeabra and Wiaso around 4am.

A Sprinter bus, registered GR 6940-09, with 38 passengers, being driven by Augustine Amoako from Achiase (near Mankranso) to Kumasi, was stopped by the hoodlums.

The robbers, wielding guns and machete, ordered the panic-stricken passengers to lie on the road and surrender their monies – an order the passengers obeyed as the robbers took away GH¢950.

The matter was reported to the police who upon intelligence arrested the five suspects at their hideout at Kunsu on December 14.
