Nothing came out of NDC Congress – Kwesi Pratt

The Managing Editor of the ‘Insight’ newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jr has called for a change in how political parties in the country organize their National Delegates Congress.

The renowned journalist was speaking to the just ended National Delegates Congress of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, nothing extraordinary came out of the just-ended congress except the controversies surrounding the solidarity message of General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Ivor Greenstreet.

“How can a ruling party go to congress and after the only thing you hear is Greenstreet, Samuel George and so on,” he bemoaned.

Contributing to a panel discussion on Tuesday’s edition of ‘Kokrokoo’, Kwesi Pratt said: “in other places, congresses are to find solutions to problems facing the country and the way forward… how to apply their philosophy and then at the end of the congress, they find a resolution to the congress – but in Ghana that is not the case; either they are sharing iron rods, cloths, insults and so on. There was nothing from the congress; what message are the delegates taking back to their regions? Nothing…”

Kwesi Pratt however hoped “that Ghana will get to a point when political parties will go to congress and will devote four to five hours to discuss national issues and there will be a one or two pages resolutions after the congress,” he added.

KWESI PRATT. JR, MANAGING EDITOR OF INSIGHT NEWSPAPER OF GHANA
    DATE: WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 24, 2014
SUBJECT: DEAR H.E.DR.MR.PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA & H.E.PRESIDENT OF GHANA JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA,

TO RESPECTFULLY AND HUMBLY SUBMIT MY COMMENTS AND THOUGHTS ON THE ABOVE RELATED SUBJECT-MATTER BEING THE OUT COME OF THE FORUM ORGANIZED BY KWESI PRATT, JR. MANAGING DIRECTOR OF INSIGHT NEWSPAPER OF GHANA CAPTIONED, “SOCIALIST FORUM OF GHANA ON CUBA”.
THAT IT IS VERY UNFORTUNATE THAT EVEN IN THE 21ST CENTURY WORLD AND WITH ALL THE POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC REFORMS THAT ARE TAKING PLACE IN THE FORMER EASTERN COUNTRIES INCLUDING RUSSIA AND EVEN CUBA THAT INSTEAD TO SHOW APPRECIATION, GRATITUDE , GRATEFULNESS AND THANKS TO H.E.DR.MR.PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA AND FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF UNITED STATES OF AMERICA FOR THE BOLD COURAGE TO PURSUE THE “SMART POLICY OF DIALOGUE” TO RESOLVE DIFFERENCES AND CONTROVERSIES INSTEAD OF “THE POLICY OF ISOLATION” THAT WILL ALWAYS POSE DIFFICULTIES AND CHALLENGES OF THE CUBAN PEOPLE THAT KWESI PRATT, JR,AND OTHERS PURPORTED TO PLAY THE IDEOLOGICAL POLITICAL GAME OF SOCIALISM” WITH THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND THE WESTERN WORLD.
THAT THE CUBAN PEOPLE HAVE SUFFERED AND STRUGGLED JUST BECAUSE OF SOCIALIST IDEOLOGICAL BELIEFS THAT TO MY RESPECTFUL SUBMISSION THAT I DULY CONCLUDED WHEN I WROTE MY DISSERTATION FOR THE AWARD OF BA SOCIAL SCIENCES DEGREE IN 1986 AT THEN UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY, KUMASI AND NOW “KNUST” ON THE TOPIC, “SOCIAL CHANGE AT KPEDZE IN THE VOLTA REGION: A CASE STUDY OF THE ECONOMIC SYSTEM OF KPEDZE” AND DULY CONCLUDED THAT BY THE DISSOLUTION OF THE DEFUNCT SOVIET UNION AS RESULT OF “REFORMS” NADE THE IDEOLOGY “UTOPIA” AND DOOMED.
THAT IT IS VERY TRUE STATEMENT OF FACT THAT UNITED STATES OF AMERICA PREAMBLE TO THE CONSTITUTION, PROVIDES, AMONG OTHERS, THAT “—CONGRESS SHALL LEGISLATE TO PROMOTE THE GENERAL WELFARE OF THE PEOPLE—” AND IN MOST OF THE WESTERN COUNTRIES CONSTITUTIONS CLEARLY PROVIDE FOR PROVISIONS THAT HELP TO CUSHION EFFECTS OF THE NEEDS OF THE PEOPLE, THERETO.
THAT RUSSIA’S 1993 CONSTITUTION IS/WAS A “HYBRID” CONSTITUTION OF THE EAST AND THE WEST AND CLEARLY PROVIDED FOR “FREE MARKET ECONOMY” THERETO>
THAT IT IS VERY TRUE STATEMENT OF FACT THAT “COMPETITION” LEADS TO HARD WORK,PERSONAL/INDIVIDUAL RELATED QUALITY DEVELOPMENTS, THAT LEADS TO PROMOTION OF QUALITY VALUES AND STANDARDS THAT LEADS TO QUALITY DEVELOPMENTS.
THAT THERE ARE PROVISIONS FOR SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC INTERVENTIONS THAT HELPED TO CUSHION EFFECTS OF THE VULNERABLE AND THE DISADVANTAGE IN SOCIETY.
THAT THE 21ST CENTURY WORLD SHOULD BE SEEN TO CREATE ENABLING ENVIRONMENT TO PROVIDE “EQUAL OPPORTUNITY” FOR ALL AND FOR THESE RELATED INTERVENTIONS ARE DEPENDENT ON THE NATIONAL CONSTITUTIONS AND THE INTERNATIONAL LAW ,SUB-REGIONAL, REGIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS CONSTITUTIONS, TREATIES, CHARTERS AND CONVENTIONS, THERETO.
THEREFORE, TAKING COGNIZANCE OF THE ABOVE RELATED ISSUES THAT TO BE GRAPPLING WITH MERE RHETORIC IDEOLOGICAL PARLANCE WILL ALWAYS POSE A PROBLEM TO CUBA SINCE CUBA WILL BE CONTRAVENING THESE RELATED INTERNATIONAL LAWS, THERETO.
IT IS THEREFORE MY RESPECTFUL SUBMISSION AND CANDID OPINION THAT THE ESSENCE AND ‘SINE QUA NON’ OF POLITICS ITSELF “TO PROMOTE THE QUALITY GOOD OF THE PEOPLE” .
IT IS AT THESE RELATED BACKDROPS THAT IN THE 21ST CENTURY SMART DIPLOMACY AND FOREIGN RELATIONS DISPENSATIONS THAT THE FOLLOWING SMART POLICIES EMERGED:
    (i) THE STRATEGY OF INFORMATION SHARING TO HELP PROMOTE BETTER UNDERSTANDING AND FRIENDSHIP.
(ii) MUTUAL TRUST AND MUTUAL RESPECT FOR EACH OTHERS
    (iii) UNITY IN DIVERSITY
(iv)DIALOGUE TO RESOLVE DIFFERENCES AND CONFLICTS
    (v) PEACE
    (vi) GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT.

IT IS IN THE LIGHT OF ABOVE THAT H.E.DR.MR.PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA AND FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF UNITED STATES OF AMERICA TO BE COMMENDED FOR THE BOLD COURAGE AND SMART DIPLOMACY DISPENSATION ADOPTED IN THE CASE OF CUBA AND NOT TO REDUCE THE GOOD AND GENUINE DIPLOMACY TO THE “GIMMICKS OF SOCIALIST IDEOLOGY” SINCE IT WILL NEVER HELP THE CUBAN CASE, THERETO.
    RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED.
GOD BLESS GHANA, AMERICA AND CUBA.
    VERY TRULY YOURS,
    BENONY TONY AMEKUDZI
