Communications Director of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, Kwasi Kyei has described the comment made by Sam George, a member of NDC communication team about Ivor Greenstreet as unfortunate and disrespect to people who are physically challenged.
According to Mr. Kyei who is also physically challenged, President Mahama should equally be blamed when he chose to describe the Chief Scribe of Convention People’s Party (CPP) as “incurable selective myopia” after he [Ivor Greenstreet] had spoken the obvious truth about the hardship in the country.
Speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Kwasi Kyei cautioned Sam George and those insulting Ivor Greenstreet to be careful as it is very easy for anybody to join the club of the physically challenged.
He clarified that being physically challenged cannot be translated into brain damage as it is clear to all Ghanaians that there is hardship in the country; adding it is a fact which the founder of the ruling NDC, Mr. Rawlings shares with Ghanaians.
He maintained that President Mahama himself is part of the problem for saying that he won’t respond to someone like Ivor Greenstreet as it means that he [Mahama] doesn’t respect him as a human being.
He again cautioned that every human being is a potential victim to being physically challenged.
“Almost about 6 million people in Ghana are physically challenged and so they should be careful and show respect when addressing physically challenged people…if someone is physically challenged, it does not mean their brains are destroyed. Everybody is a potentially physically challenged person. You can go to work today as a complete person but you can lose your legs by evening through accident. So Sam George and all those insulting us should be careful; if they don’t take care and they join the club, they won’t feel comfortable,” he chided.
“So if you are the President and you describe someone as myopia for telling you the truth, and your boy mocking that he [Greenstreet] needs elevation to see the better Ghana agenda, then it is disturbing. As I am talking to you anybody at all can join us; the same way Mahama left home as a Vice President and returned in the evening as a President, anything can happen to anybody…those who are insulting and not showing respect to us, God will reward them appropriately,” he fumed.
