Sulley Muntari’s dad warns GFA

Sulley-MuntariGhanaian coach Alhaji Muniru Sulley has warned the GFA not to interfere in the team selection of new national team boss Avram Grant.

This comes after Ghana FA spokesman Ibrahim Sannie Daara declared that out-of-favour stars, Michael Essien, Kevin-Prince Boateng and Muniru’s son Sulley Muntari must apologise before being recalled.

The three have been iced since partaking in various acts of indiscipline – according to the FA – during the nation’s disgraceful outing in Brazil.

Muniru, who has coached Nigerian sides El Kanemi Warriors and Kano Pillars, is not against his son apologising, but he wants the GFA to give the new coach a free hand to do his job.

“The statement by Sannie-Daara that unless the boys apologise they can’t be taken, means they have started dictating to the coach,” Muniru told Joy FM.

“The coach knows what to do, if they had their way round Ghanaian coaches, this is a neutral coach; allow him to do his job.

“I’m not saying Muntari should not apologise, I’m insisting that the Ghana FA must not interfere in Grant’s final decision on whether Muntari rejoins the Black Stars or not.”

The Israeli is in Europe at the moment to meet with key members of the Black Stars.
