The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region has been hit with a tragedy following the mysterious death of one of its polling agents near Agogo in the Asante-Akyem North Constituency.
Kwabena Tweneboa’s mysterious demise has raised suspicion among residents of the area, especially his party members.
The deceased, a tailor by profession, was said to be in good health until he was found dead at Pan African, a suburb of Hwidiem near Agogo on January 10, this year.
His girlfriend, who he reportedly visited at Juansa prior to his death, could not be traced as she had absconded, and the police are doing everything possible to arrest her to assist in investigations.
Narrating the horrific news to DAILY GUIDE, Chief Supt Alex Amenya, Konongo Divisional Police Commander, said his outfit heard about the death of Tweneboa in the morning of January 10.
According to him, at about 8am, one Stephen Toda and two others who claimed to be family members of the deceased, reported the death to the police.
He said the polic quickly rushed to Pan African where the body was lying and upon thorough examination, “no mark o violent assault was found on Tweneboa’s body.” He said the lifeless body was conveyed to the morgue at Agogo for autopsy, adding that the police had since started serious investigations to unearth what led to Tweneboa’s death.
Chief Supt Amenya asserted that the police had gathered that a certain lady, believed to be Tweneboa’s girlfriend – whom the deceased was said to havevvisited at Juansa prior to his death – had fled the areavsince the incident occurred.
The police chief said they were doing everything possible to apprehend the said lady so that she could assist the police in their investigations, urging residents of the area to remain calm.
He appealed to the public to feed the police with credible and valuable information that could help to unearth what really resulted in the NPP man’s death.
