The six police officers who petitioned President John Mahama over promotions in the service are likely to be sanctioned by the Ghana Police administration.
This is because the officers may not have exhausted the service’s channels for addressing grievances.
He was of the opinion that the officers could have petitioned the Police Council which is the highest decision making body in the service after their attempts to get a hearing failed at various channels.
There have been complaints about unfair promotions in the past by police officers but none have gone as far as the presidency.
The Police administration is currently trying to establish if the officers used all the means available to make their case heard.
“When the time comes for us to give our punishment we will know whether they followed the laid down regulations.” DCOP Ampah Benin said.
