Prez. Mahama hates cocaine issues, unlike Kufuor – Gen. Mosquito

asiedu-nketiahThe General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has commended  President John Mahama for the swiftness with which he dealt with the recent cocaine saga.

Citing the recent Nayele cocaine scandal as an example on the Point Blank segment on Eyewitness News, Asiedu Nketia said President Mahama took swift actions in the wake of the cocaine bust.

“Go look at the actions of President Mahama after this cocaine saga, whoever had anything to do with the VIP has been rounded up and they are facing prosecution now.”

According to him, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Eric Amoateng who was busted in the US for trafficking cocaine used the VIP section of the Kotoka International Airport but there were no “consequential actions from the government at that time.”

This, he said is indicative that “there is one government which abhors these dealings in cocaine so much so that whenever there is any least scandal or incident, that government is prepared to crack the whip.”

He said another clear indication of Mahama’s commitment to tackling the canker was his decision to dissolve the board of the Narcotic Control Board (NACOB)with immediate effect.“Even when you come to the reaction of government in dissolving the board of NACOB because of a statement that was issued which turned out to be untrue, go and see the actions of Kufour and NPP in those days; if they had acted in like manner, we wouldn’t be where we are in now!”

Asiedu Nketsia further stated that President John Kufour and his erstwhile government are responsible for all the cocaine scandals the country is witnessing now.

“As I sit here, I still hold President Kufuor and his government responsible for all the scandals about cocaine in those days and they have never come out to vindicate themselves from anything,” he said.

This is not the first time Asiedu Nketia is commending Mahama for his response to the cocaine scandal.

He had early told Citi News that President Mahama acted with “supersonic speed” to get individuals involved in the scandal arrested.
