Western Region’s leading PR firm lands British Council deal

10440962_253544558177572_3645487320195616450_nOBPR, the Western Region’s leading Public Relations Agency has firmed up a deal with the British Council to manage publicity for the Tullow technical training awards.

This in-country award is to augment the current international scholarships sponsored by Tullow and managed by the British Council.

Tullow Oil plc, Africa’s leading independent oil company will from January 2015 make sponsorship available to eligible candidates to pursue training at the Jubilee Technical Training Centre (JTTC) in Takoradi. The in-country awards for Ghanaians to study in JTTC forms part of Tullow Oil’s Social Investment programme which is primarily focused on investing in education and capacity building to propel local human resource participation in Ghana’s oil industry and other industries to support economic diversification. It basically seeks to meet the skills gap for well-trained technical expertise in the Oil and Gas industry.

Being a new addition to the already existing Tullow Group Scholarship Scheme, OBPR is expected to:

  • Create awareness for the awards through extensive media coverage and various stakeholder engagements
  • Maximise the number of applications to be received from FIVE districts in the western region (Elembele, Jomoro, Nzema East, Ahanta West and Shama districts).
  • To identify the best way to deploy information sessions in key districts for maximum attendance and participation by the target market (at least 80% of the target market).
  • Maximise the knowledge and understanding of the scheme and the role of Tullow Oil Plc and British Council.

The JTTC sponsorship for the next academic year will be opened from the 15th of January, 2014. The sponsorship will be given to western region indigenes who meet the required criteria.

Prospective candidates will formally apply for the award and will be screened and assessed based on agreed criteria. Successful candidates will be trained in courses including health, safety, instrumentation, mechanical, electrical, and process engineering.
