On 17th December, 2014, during Parliament of Ghana’s Festival of 9 lessons and Carols Night, the legislators had a silver-collection for the Sekondi School for the Deaf (SEKDEAF). 49 days after the collection was taken, the money has not been received by administration of the school.
Speaking to Philip Osei Bonsu on the Jolly Breakfast Show (JBS) on Skyy Power 93.5 FM in Takoradi, Mr. Kofi Oti Frimpong, Headmaster of the school said he has not received any money from parliament. According to the Headmaster, he watched parliament’s carols night on TV and even had calls from his colleague teachers from other schools that his school is now rich. The headmaster further revealed that, the school has not received the school feeding grant from government so they are miraculously feeding the students of the facility.
Hon. Kojo Essilfie, legislator for Shama was even invited to stand by the offering bowl during the carols night by parliament to signify that the donation was going to his constituency. The amount of money received during the donation is still unknown.
Is the money missing? When will the special school receive the donation taken in their name? Who is to be asked and blamed for the delay of the money?
