Joseph Bortey, 28, and Emmanuel Atta Boateng, 24, both aluminium fabricators, who live in the same vicinity at Ablekuma CP in Accra, were arrested after the victim (name withheld) confided in her mother.

While Bortey is said to have fingered the girl, Boateng, on the other hand, allegedly had sex with her in Bortey’s room.

Victim falls sick

Briefing the Daily Graphic, the Odorkor District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent of Police, Mr Abraham Acquaye, said the mother of the victim reported to the police last Monday that two men had defiled her daughter.

According to the police, the victim’s mother said the girl had been sick for about a week and though she had been taken to the hospital, she had not responded to treatment.

The victim’s mother added that she started throwing up on Sunday and her body temperature was high.  After bathing the victim, the mother decided to examine her vagina and she found bruises there.

When the victim was questioned, she told her mother that Bortey put his fingers in her vagina while Boateng made her sit on his laps for him to put a ‘big thing in her vagina.”

He said the victim claimed the two men warned her not to inform anyone or they would beat her.

During interrogation, Mr Acquaye said Bortey told the police he first fingered the girl two years ago, while Boateng claimed that he first had sex with the girl in February 2014.

Mr Acquaye urged parents to prevent their female children from being at isolated places with male adults and educate them not to let men touch parts of their bodies.
