Defining a hit song cannot be relative especially with great media influence lately. Yesteryears, it was easier to determine which song is a hit because parliamentarians will use it on placards to criticize a budget, 90% of DJs will play it before ending their programmes or Pastor’s mention it in their sermons and advice members against songs like that.
With the above stated determinants, songs like ‘Boys abr3’ by Guru, ‘Tonga’ by Joey B, ‘Aluguntugui’ by Keche, ‘Philomina’ by Tictac, ‘Yenko nkoa’ by Eduwoji and Stay Jay, ‘Walahi’ by R2Bees, ‘Lapaz toyota’ by Guru among others are the measure gauge of hit songs in Ghana.
Can any recent song, say from November 2014 be said to be on the above mentioned songs pedestal? Some argue that, the Ghanaian Artistes are becoming lazy to suit the musical buds of Ghanaians and fans so gaining all ears and lips now is difficult. Others also posit that, the system of music in Ghana now has made it so.
What is making it difficult to ascertain the hit songs in Ghana now? Anyway, what are the hit songs in Ghana now?
