When KNUST students fingered me – Mzbel recalls ordeal after 10 years

mzbel10 years ago, Mzbel was sexually harassed by students of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). The media in Ghana speculated details of the ordeal. The victim, Mzbel did not speak out on it but on Restoration with Stacy, Mzbel opened up on the harassment. According to her;

She was paid “GHc 50,000” by KNUST for pressing further charges. “When my crew and I were leaving the auditorium, some of the students came up to me, saying they wanted to take pictures with me. While we were at it, others came from nowhere to shake my hands,” she narrated.

“Unfortunately, that exit was like a big window through which I had to jump. Just when I was about to jump, someone grabbed hold of my legs and within a twinkle of an eye, there were a whole mob of students pulling my legs.”

Her trousers and underpant were pulled down in the process. The mob took advantage of her nakedness and started fingering her.“They revealed everything by pulling my pants and trousers down to my knee”.

According to Mzbel, she sued the tertiary institution GHC60,000 in January 2006 but she secured GHC50,000 from it.

“It had nothing to do with the way I was dressed. Even on that night when I performed, I was not wearing any extraordinary clothes. I was in a pair of trousers and a jacket” Mzbel defended.
