FDA ban: Celebrities are fighting a lost battle – Mr. Beautiful

indexA celebrated Actor, Clement Bonney, known in Showbiz as Mr. Beautiful is strongly supporting the Food and Drugs Board Authority (FDA)’s directive to ban all celebrities from advertising in alcoholic beverages which has irreparable effect on their underage fans.

Kwadwo Nkansah Lil Win and Kwaku Manu are strongly against the directive by the FDA saying that is another avenue for generating income for them but a colleague Actor Mr. beautiful says they are fighting a lost battle.

On OC Showbiz Review on Skyy Power 93.5 MHz in Takoradi last Saturday, Mr. Beautiful who was speaking on the impact of the ban supported the FDA directive. “It is a necessary evil decision, is good because like a person like me, a person like Koo Ofori, Akrobeto, Kwame Dzorkoto, we have some followers who look up to us. I quite remember I did an advert for Raid and people were saying eii Beautiful has been used for Raid, then it is a good thing, I will buy some. We have people who follow us and live their lives like us.” Mr. Beautiful posited.

“If you go to America it’s the same thing, it is a worldwide thing. Fine the law has been there but we haven’t applied it so when I heard it, it was normal to me though it will reduce some income it will as well help us train the future children. If I tell you the rate of alcoholism amongst the JHS Students, the hard liquor they take in, you have no idea. Now some of these children’s systems are used to the alcohol to the extent that they add lacquer (mixture of alcohol and weed), they have upgraded” Mr. Beautiful revealed.

The perturbed Mr. Beautiful added “Just imagine a person like Shatta Wale who is holding liquor and advertising it, imagine the number of young boys who will follow him. That is why I said it is a necessary evil decision but we have to go for it. It is necessary and evil at the same time, it is evil for us who are used and it is necessary for the young boys and the children who are growing, it will help their life.”

Mr. Beautiful says he doesn’t see anything bad about the directive and on what he thinks about his colleagues who are fighting the directive and threatening a legal action , Mr. Beautiful said “It is already lost battle, look what I’ve realized in the earth is that, if you don’t have God and don’t believe in what God can do for you, you can always struggle. Who told you those companies are the ones who will take care of us. The budget that God had on me as a human being, if the budget is exhausted, He will take me from the earth but so long as I live, it shows that God has something for me, so if I don’t do liquor advert will I die? Believe in God and love God will all your heart, if you do that, He says ask anything and He will give it to you.”

“Why should I go and advertise for someone’s business, meanwhile I am promoting evil thing, I’m not saying liquor is evil but meanwhile I’m migrating innocent people into something that can lead them into something tragedy. I know a lot of people who are destroyed by alcohol, I’m not condemning liquor but I’m saying that the rate people drink it, it can destroy them. I believe in God and as long as God provides, I will never fight that lose battle” Mr. Beautiful echoed.

Mr. Beautiful spoke in Fante in the interview with Nana Kwame on the weekly Entertainment Show, OC Showbiz Review on Skyy Power 93.5 MHz.
