Review of Afriyie ft Sarkodie – Go gaga

indexEver since he was separated from the siamese group Wutah, Afriyie has proven to many that, he is a strong force to reckon with. ‘Love of my life,’ ‘Sorry,’ ‘Tontonti,’ and ‘I do’ are songs which have defended his impregnable strength as a solo Artiste.

In his day old song, ‘Go gaga’ featuring Sarkodie, the beginning of the song with snippet of Sarkodie’s rap pokes listeners the great piece they are about to enjoy. The beginning of every song is like foreplay, the intense and enjoyable it is, the better the main game would be, but sometimes one could be disappointed with a good foreplay and a very bad performance in the main game but Afriyie taking the baton stick from Sarkodie wows listeners with his soothing and violin sound-alike voice.

If for any other subject, Afriyie could be battled but on issues of love, he is the oracle in Ghana Music. “You looking so beautiful from a distance, you wanna be a hindrance but baby could you give me that once chance…..” the song begins with these verses. All astute musicians praise Afriyie for great arrangement in songs and he proved his prowess here too.

Seeing a lady you love and you are forced to emit all the luring words from one’s memory to have her is the main subject of the song. The ‘flirt’ musician who is a wordsmith in love is asking for a chance in the life of the lady to prove to her that, she has met her Prince Charming and reveals his big plans he has for the lady. Not ending there, he further tells the lady that, he wouldn’t be a boring partner but an ‘Nkomode’ (a popular comedian in the 90s); his showering of praises on the lady he mentioned as Efua is amazing.

Not only is he the country’s pride in timing on beat, Sarkodie enters the song singing with his unique timing here too. “My heart is just aching and beating for you and I promise to be there my love’in is true, you my baby my angel I call you my boo, my baby…” Sarkodie enters the song with an autotuned voice singing to give his verse a different touch. As if he was making his love intentions known to Tracy at the Alisa hotel on the day he had the all white party for her, Sarkodie goes all out in his usual love lines. When he switched from singing to rapping, his derailing style sounded like how he started ‘Wobadanaa’ song on his Sarkology album. Creative and humorous raps on the song. Sarkodie in numerous songs have made it known that he is not a fan of demanding partners as he has countless times praised women who are not ‘sika mbaa’.

The ending of the song wasn’t so appealing, like how you have had a good intimacy and the main game is on point and after say 3 rounds, when you are expecting something creative and exceptional, you are left wondering “ah e all that?” Aside the ending which was not properly ‘outroed,’ the song is an AMAZING PIECE! A straight hit which will not take more than 3 months to inundate the airwaves.
