It has been observed that President John Dramani Mahama is not discharging his core duty of managing the affairs of the state; and is rather seen as sleeping comfortably at the Flagstaff House, resulting in the excessive hardship majority of Ghanaians are currently facing.Nana Ama Ampomah, the Ashanti Regional Women’s Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who made the observation, has tasked the first lady, Lordina Mahama, to wake her husband up from his slumber and solve the problems confronting the nation.
Speaking in an interview with Daily Guide, she said Ghana has not experienced a single development since the National Democratic Congress (NDC) took over power “and this is a clear indication that the president is fast asleep.”
She said if the president had been active and not sleeping, Ghana wouldn’t have gone through so many socio-economic challenges that have had negative effect on the country’s growth.
According to Nana Ama, first ladies across the globe motivate their husbands to perform and also draw their (husbands’) attention to the right thing to be done when they are going wrong. “Sadly,” the NPP bigwig said, “Ghana’s situation has taken a different direction.” Nana Ama said hardship and poverty are the order of the day under the NDC administration, lamenting that all the developmental gains that the country made under the NPP administration are being eroded under the NDC.
The NPP women’s leader in the region said corruption is rampant, especially in government, as “state officials loot Ghana’s money to enrich themselves but nothing is being done to punish them.” Nana Ama noted that apart from President Mahama not being a competent leader, “I have realized that he is also sleeping on his job,” indicating that sectors like health, roads, education, among others, are all in jeopardy.
She passionately appealed to Lordina Mahama to put aside the glory that goes with her position and make sure that her husband wakes up from his sleep and work to solve Ghana’s problems. |
