Woyome has inspired many thieves – Atik Mohammed

c7401af0f29b6cfe612bb243a09c03a1_LPolicy Analyst of the Peoples National Convention (PNC), Atik Mohammed, has described as a charade the prosecution of businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome by government.

According to him, the trial was just to trick Ghanaians into thinking that the Mahama-led administration is committed to fighting corruption.

An Accra Fast Track High Court on Thursday March 12, 2015 acquitted and discharged Mr. Woyome of criminal charges leveled against him.

The businessman, who was accused of fraudulently defrauding the state of 51 million cedis in judgement debts, was cleared of two counts of causing financial loss to the state and defrauding the state by false pretense.

The presiding judge while giving his ruling, said prosecutors failed woefully to provide incontrovertible evidence to defend the state.

In support, Atik Mohammed on Peace FM’s morning show Kokrokoo accused the Mahama-led administration of aiding and abetting Woyome to defraud the state.

He noted that the state deliberately presented a weak case in court to enable Woyome and his cohorts go scot-free.

“Woyome has inspired many looters in government; he has proven that stealing from the state is a risk-free enterprise,” he stated.

The PNC man who described the ruling as a dark day in Ghana’s history; added that the “create, loot and share venture under President Mahama has reached its barest minimum.

Atik Mohammed called on Ghanaians to make it their corporate social responsibility to protect the brand Ghana from total collapse.

“If you are looking for hope, you have the power to change your destiny by voting out the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2016”.
