Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD) is currently on admission at 37 Military Hospital after surviving a near-fatal accident on 31st March, 2015. As yesterday was April fool’s day, people were skeptical about the news.

According to peacfemonline, in a brief exclusive chat KOD explained that the incident happened on 31st March, about 11:30pm on the N1 Highway whiles he was on his way back home from a family member’s birthday party.

KOD, who was driving alone said, it happenned at Dzorwulu Junction around Fiesta Royale Hotel near the offices of Nestle Ghana Limited. According to him, a garbage collection truck was packed in the middle of the road near Nestle so from afar he thought the truck was in motion, not knowing it had broken down and being left idle without any indicator lights nor reflectors to warn on-coming vehicles of the danger ahead. He thus drove his KIA saloon car headlong into the broken down truck.

He further recounted that at the time of the crash, there was another car in motion to his left so the options available to him, were to either drive into the truck, ram into the other vehicle on his left-hand side or climb the pavement to his right which incidentally had a huge culvert by the side. But since it was a split-second decision, he went with the first option praying the impact would not be too severe.

Only God brought me out safe. I think the impact of the crash affected my waist, legs and other parts of my body making it extremely difficult for me to walk. I can’t walk properly….but just taking a second look at the pictures of the wrecked car, I can only thank God for my life,” the ace broadcaster said.

KOD said thankfully he is fine but he suffered some head and neck injuries, had some cuts on his hands and the excruciating leg pains whiles the airbag went off. He is still on admission at the 37 Millitary Hospital recovering.

Meanwhile, this is what KOD wrote on his facebook wall after miraculous escape this morning; “I’m still alive, thank God.  Just had a life threatening accident on the n1. God saved me, could have been fatal cos the car’s a write off. We won’t go now. ..God is alive, so am I”.
