Prez. Mahama won’t let me go hungry – Mr. Beautiful

7209698864776_3591714492843It seems when Kumawood movie producers collectively decided not to feature Mr Beautiful again in movies for openly campaining for President John Mahama in 2012, they really meant business.

Since then, Mr Beautiful real name Emmanuel Bonney who used to feature in most Kumawood movies has been missing in action but  according to him, he is unfazed and he will again campaign for President Mahama come 2016.

He told Showbiz on Sunday that he does not care whether movie producers use him or not because President Mahama remains his good  friend. “I will campaign for President Mahama any day and anytime.

“Although I have not shot any local movie in a while, I will not go hungry as some producers wish. President Mahama takes very good care of me”, he said.

One thing Mr. Beautiful worries about, however, is the fact that his many fans do not see him often in movies. “My fans are the only people I care about. I receive a lot of messages from my fans asking when my movie is coming out and it saddens my heart when I tell them I don’t know when”

Talking about the local movie scene, Mr. Beautiful said there is too much abusive language lately because producers do not go in for qualified actors.

According to Mr. Beautiful, if producers abandon great actors like Agya Koo, Kyeiwaa and himself who were the preferred faces, one should not expect good movies.

Citing an example of an experience he encountered, Mr. Beautiful said he was featured in a movie called Kweiba but that movie never came out because he played in it.

Asked why he would not produce his own movies, Mr. Beautiful said why would  he bother himself to produce a movie when the people to distribute and market it are against him.

“I received Gh¢100,000 from a phone dealer to produce my own movies but I had to return the money because I knew I would have problems with marketing and distribution” he said.

Mr. Beautiful said although he is not desperate to go back into movies, he is willing to accept roles from local producers if they invite him.

He said he was grateful to Sellasie Ibrahim for giving him a role in the Miser series.
