“We should just give him [Mahama] time to solve the problems, the problems are there but it’s four years, Rome wasn’t built in a day……. I actually lost some endorsements deals because I did something for the NDC. I don’t regret it at all,” John Dumelo is quoted to have said this in a story www.233times.net sourced on Wednesday with the headline ‘I don’t regret campaigning for Prez. Mahama – John Dumelo.’
I visited my Alma matter, University of Ghana yesterday for a letter from my Lecturer. I traveled from Takoradi to Accra for it only to be disappointed, the reason being that, there is no light on campus. With high hopes, I sat at the Lecturers office discussing what I have been up to after graduation and also telling him some of his media appearances and what he said, whiling away time to wait for the light to come back. From 11am, I sat there till 3 PM and the light didn’t come. I had to return to Takoradi without the letter with the assurance that he will send it to me when “I get light.” I am told throughout last week, the University only had electricity supply only twice in the week.
I understood people who were infuriated when John Dumelo spewed that; people should give John Mahama time to solve the country’s problems because Rome was not built in a day. The comments after posting the story surprised me as to how people could be that indelicate in their comments to the ‘fine Actor.’ Indeed his comments were “nonsense” according to a commentator.
To the extent that, some Lecturers have publicly mentioned that because of the near-failing of the country, they have thrown their support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s Nana Akufo-Addo should tell any Ghanaian how annoyed most people who are affected by the erratic power supply are.
A hotel in Takoradi buy GHc 300 diesel for their plant anytime ‘dumsor’ shows it ugly head. For a hotel which is to provide comfort to their guests, they convince guests who are in their rooms during the day to bear with them and sleep in a ‘no light’ room just to enjoy light from the plant in the evening. There are guests who are no longer visiting the hotel for this reason. The Manager of the hotel who is a regular visitor of www.233times.net insulted John Dumelo when he saw the story from the medium.
At www.233times.net , we are seriously affected by this ‘dumsor.’ Our work heavily depends on electricity. Anytime there is no electricity at the office, we have to go to the internet café to update and when there is no electricity supply at the internet café too; our visitors are starved with updates.
Multimedia, the mother company of Joy FM, Hitz FM, Asempa etc announced that due to the erratic power supply, they have to cut their mid-night transmission. If Multimedia who receive millions of Ghana cedis in advertisement is heavily affected by this, how much more a radio station at Takoradi Lagos Town? We often receive mails from visitors asking us to update them on any job vacancies, the graduates who are unemployed will be infuriated by this comment by John Dumelo.
“Had it not been for the erratic supply of electrical power that continues to torment every living soul in Ghana, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) would have cemented itself as the only political party that has transformed Ghana into an European country,” Koku Anyidoho, the Deputy General Secretary of NDC is quoted to have said this.
“The President doesn’t even see our tweets to him because the page is obviously not run by him. What’s the use? If you don’t handle your account?[sic] Ghanaians, wake up! We seriously don’t deserve this! #dumsormuststop. How will our country be productive? We can’t function! It’s sooo wrong!” angry Actress Yvonne Nelson says.
J.Melo could be steadfast in his support for John Mahama but this is the wrong time to tell Ghanaians this axiom which is a recipe for mediocrity ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day.’ So how many days should Ghana be built?
“To be frank, my respect for John Dumelo has totally gone with the wind and instead of tagging himself as a businessman or entrepreneur (obviously he isn’t because no businessman will entertain such a comment on dusmsor), he should go out there and learn how not to support incompetence” a Reader who described John Dumelo as a ‘douchebag’ is quoted to have written this on a blog.
John Dumelo should just respect himself and stop talking politics because he is just inviting undue insults and disrespect.
