A 19-year-old man at Akakyieso near Jacobu in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region, has been arrested and charged with causing grievous bodily harm to his former girlfriend.
Bismarck Anning, a galamsey operator, is due to make his second appearance in court on May 12, 2015, after the Bekwai circuit court yesterday granted him bail in the sum of GH?10,000 with one surety.
Harbouring the intention to commit the dastardly act, the accused allegedly laid ambush and attacked the 16-year-old girl of Akakyieso D/A Junior High School with a cutlass, while she was in the company of her friend on May 2, 2015.
The victim (name withheld), was said to have sustained cutlass wounds on her left hand and bruises on the cheek following two hefty slaps allegedly thrown into her face by the accused, which reportedly happened at about 7pm.
Bismarck had earlier allegedly threatened to chop off the girl’s hands after accusing her of flirting with another man in the community to the detriment of their sexual relationship, which frightened the victim, compelling her to end the amorous relationship.
Angered by the girl’s action, the accused allegedly took the callous move to settle scores.
He was apprehended by community folks subsequent to his bloody action and later handed over to the police for investigation.
Bismarck admitted the offence in his caution statement to the police, who arraigned him for prosecution.
