PHOTOS: Police Constable arrested for stealing iPhone 6

251663255_418531The Ashanti Regional police command has arrested a 27 year old constable Emmanuel Sarpong for allegedly stealing mobile phone belonging to Chinese couple valued at 4,000 Ghana Cedis.

Addressing the press on Monday, ACP Ampofo Duku explained that constable Sarpong was on patrol on the 29th April, 2015 with his colleagues from the visibility unit of the Ghana police service.

They however stopped Wei Hai Mi and the wife Lang Ging for weapon search at Paraku Estate in Kumasi. But the Chinese couple after they have left realized that their iphone 6 have been stolen.

A report was made to the regional police command with the aid of another police officer who was on night patrol on a motor bike.

The Officers however were arrested and questioned by the regional police command. Constable Emmanuel Sarpong owned up as the thief who stoled the phone but has given it to a dealer at Adum a suburb of Kumasi. The dealer was also arrested and currently under interrogation by the police.

ACP Ampofo Duku added that constable Emmanuel Sarpong will be put before court as soon as possible.

In a related development, the Ashanti regional visibility commander DSP Twum Barima has been demoted by the Ghana Police Service for his poor supervision over his men.
