Blakk Rasta to appear before Parliament Thursday

blakk-rasta-609x330Musician and Radio Host, Black Rasta is expected before Parliament’s Privileges Committee on Thursday, June 25 for alleging that about 80% of Members of Parliament use marijuana.

The Privileges Committee has invited him to further give evidence to support his claims.

This was captured in a letter signed by Ebenezer Ahumah Djietotror, Principal Assistant Clerk of the Privileges Committee.According to the letter, the Committee invited Blakk Rasta after the MP for Afigya-Sekyere East, David Hennric Yeboah drew the “attention of the Rt. Hon. Speaker and the House” to the said claims he made on Hitz FM.

The letter added that “Having regard to the complaint and the sentiments expressed by Hon. Members on same, the Rt. Hon. Speaker, pursuant to Standing Order 31 referred your conduct to the Committee of Privileges for investigation and report.”

“Accordingly, the Committee hereby summons you [Blakk Rasta] under Standing Order 205 to appear before it on Thursday, 25th June, 2015 at 1:00 pm as a witness to assist in investigation of the matter.”

The letter further stated that Blakk Rasta has the “right to be represented by a Counsel” of his choice “to assist you in the evidence you will adduce during proceedings.”

Blakk Rasta, known in real life as Abubakar Ahmed, has also purportedly accused MPs of speaking bad English.

He mimicked “My God I check on this grammar and it’s terrible. And I really want to know if our laws can be written in Twi so we will understand that better, rather than this English that we are terrorising ourselves with.”
