The party has scheduled its parliamentary primaries for Saturday, June 13, 2015, across the country.
“Let us have a healthy primaries and show the country that we are deserving of their mandate,” he declared in a goodwill message to all those who are taking part in the nationwide exercise.
In a statement to wish them well, Nana Akufo-Addo said it was his expectation that the elections would be transparent and held in accordance with the constitution and regulations of the party and the laws governing the conduct of public elections in the country.
He, therefore, urged delegates, in their choice of parliamentary candidates, to elect “winnable” candidates who could win their seats and help deliver an NPP majority in the next Parliament.
“These candidates should also be the ones who can work hard to ensure an NPP victory in the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections,” he stated.
The primaries are the last of the necessary internal party contests in the preparations towards the 2016 general and presidential elections.
According to Nana Akufo-Addo, “thus far, the entire nation can bear testimony to the efficient, peaceful and successful manner in which we have conducted ourselves in our internal contests”.
