Mahama administration scores 47% in IMANI assessment report

1.5151045The John Mahama administration has scored 47% for its overall performance over the past two and a half years, according to an IMANI Ghana assessment report.

According to the policy think tank, the score is a “satisfactory” performance but there is more room for improvement before the four-year term ends.

IMANI Ghana came to the 47% conclusion after assessing the 2012 manifesto of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) as against the actual work on the ground.

IMANI Ghana evaluated the rate of execution of the programmes and projects stated in the manifesto and identified the gaps that need to be bridged over the next year and a half before the 2016 election.

The government scored 36.4% under economy after a “satisfactory score in the promises at the cocoa sector, promises under the rural enterprise programme” among others.

The government had 43.30% in governance as against 65.7% for education.

The report presented by Emmanuel Boadi Mensah, an economist and Maud Martey of IMANI Ghana, noted “most of the promises have not been achieved” but acknowledged that “the NDC government is doing well but very important areas under the economy have been neglected.”

The assessment is to help the masses “make more informed political choices” come the next general elections.
