Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan has quickly announced his presence in the Chinese Super League after registering a goal in his first match for Shanghai SIPG when they hosted Tianjin Teda on Thursday.

The former Sunderland striker was introduced into the game in the 46th minute after replacing Lu Wenjun.

The visitors broke the deadlock in the 36th minute through Hernan Barcos, but Sven-Goran Eriksson’s men returned from recess looking more determined.

Brazilian midfielder Davi scored from the spot in the 59th minute before Gyan sealed all three points for the Shanghai-based club in the 80th minute.

Shanghai SIPG are now on top of the Chinese Super League table with 41 points after 19 matches.

Gyan has given himself a massive boost as expectations are really high following a big-money move which made all the headlines last week.

The Black Star is currently the eighth highest paid player in the world, with a weekly wage pecked at $350,000. He is also the highest paid player from Africa.
