ga-mantseKingmakers of the Ga State have installed a new king in the person of Kelvin Nii Tackie Abia Tackie.

At a ceremony in Accra yesterday, the paramount stool, Dzase, led by the Dzasetse, Nii Tetteh Kwei II, outdoored the new king with the stool name, Tackie Teiko Tsuru II. He takes over from King Nii Tackie Tawiah III, known in private life as Dr Joe Blankson, who died in London.

It was done in consultation with the nominal head of the Ga paramount royal house, TeikoTsuru We.

The new king was said to have been ‘captured’ Friday night and confined in a room for three days as tradition demands.

Nii Tetteh Kwei II expressed satisfaction at the decision and indicated that the uniqueness of the installation was epitomised by the peaceful and proper procedural steps taken.

He therefore noted, “The people of Ga Mashie can now boast of a king who has the interest of the State at heart; a well-educated personality who has proven beyond doubt that he is ready to champion the socio-economic development of the State, put premium on the education of the people and above all, lead a clean and unified Ga for the growth and development of the whole nation,” he said.

Until his installation, Kelvin Nii Tackie Abia Tackie was said to be an entrepreneur and businessman.

He was running mate to Jacob Osei Yeboah (JOY), an independent presidential candidate in the 2012 general elections.

The new king is said to be the founder of Aenon Artisanal Mining Limited, a small-scale mining company with concessions in Bibiani in the Western Region.

King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II was also appointed Advisor to the Liberal Studies Department of Kumasi Polytechnic.  He was a lecturer of Entrepreneurship at Kumasi Polytechnic and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

He is also said to be holding an MBA in Strategic Management and Consulting from the KNUST School of Business, an International Business Certificate in X-culture from KNUST, Certificate in Marketing, Cleaning Science in Johannesburg, South Africa, and a Bachelor of Arts from KNUST.
