Rodney reveals why he recorded Afriyie Acquah’s wife

Amanda-AcquahThe gentleman at the centre of the leaked tape of Black Stars player, Afriyie Acquah’s wife Amanda, has finally explained why he chose to record the private conversation between him and the lady.

Rodney Aboagye revealed in a telephone conversation with Nana Yaa Brefo of Adom TV that he chose to record the conversation as evidence to exonerate himself if the need ever arises.

“There have been occasions when I have been unable to defend myself against Amanda when issues crop up and hence I chose to record her this time to further back my point anytime something of this sort creeps up…,” he said.

The marriage between the footballer and his wife became the subject of discussion in the media this week following a leaked tape in which Amanda purportedly claimed she slept with a co-Black Stars player, Jordan Ayew, whose manhood she said was ‘bigger and more appealing’ than that of her husband, Afriyie Acquah.

“Jordan and I have been good friends since childhood. We were being mocked from childhood and tagged as ‘husband and wife’. Even Dede Ayew used to say ‘these people, don’t discuss their issues. They would fight today and you will see them together the next day…I have been with Jordan for four good years, not four days,” she said.

She further claimed on the tape that her husband, Afriyie Acquah is infertile, daring him to divorce her if he is fertile.

“If Afriyie is fertile, wouldn’t he have impregnated me by now? Should I bring you cupfuls of prescribed medications he is taking for three months?” Amanda said in a follow up audio.

The controversy generated by the tape has led to several persons including ex-footballer, Augustine Arhinful urging the Italy-based footballer to advise himself.

He further called for the axing of Torino’s Afriyie Acquah and Aston Villa’s Jordan Ayew from Ghana’s squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda.

“[The GFA] should seek audience with [the two players], and if indeed anyone is harboring something then both players should drop from the team…because it is likely to bring problems in the set up. Whether we like it or not, it’s an issue we need to deal with. The Black Stars is supposed to assemble next week for an important game…The GFA] must speak to them privately and [it must be done] now!” he said.

Meanwhile the two have been named by coach Avram Grant for the qualifying match.

Rodney in the interview revealed that he was forced to release the tape when Afriyie Acquah demanded to listen to it after it emerged that the wife has something to do with Jordan Ayew.

“So I sent him (Afriyie Acqauh) a copy and further forwarded it to Major Baah (a close relation of the footballer) because the mother was not on whatsapp…,” he said.

Rodney who denied he was using the tape to blackmail the couple dared Amanda to come out with the original version of the tape to show that he has doctored it, as claimed by her spokespersons.

“The tape is not doctored and I am daring Amanda to bring out the original if she is still convinced I have doctored the audio being played out…,” he said.
