John Okafor, a Nigerian actor and comedian, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has revealed in an interview on Starr FM that he was nearly sold for rituals.
“ I was nearly sold for rituals in the year 1979. What happened was, they were bargaining for my head in a local dialect and they didn’t know I understood that language and I also played along,” he said. The ritualists, he said, in their conversation made it look like they were bargaining for a goat, but unknown to them “i was following every word that they said about me.” Asked how he felt when the bargaining was on-going, he answered; “
I was not afraid, I was just there and I thank God for everything. God saw me through.” Okafor is considered to be one of Nigeria’s most talented comic characters. His humorous acting is often characterised by stupidity, hilarious imbecility and a sharp disconnection from reality. He is known for movies like Mr.Ibu, Mr.Ibu in London , Police Recruit, 9 Wives,, Ibu in Prison and Keziah.
