PHOTO: First legal marijuana pills go on sale

CBD-pills-620x360The first legal marijuana pills have gone on sale in Europe – and are available now via an online store.

The 10mg ‘Satipharm’ pills are marketed as a ‘nutritional supplement’ and sold via maker MMJ Phytotech’s internet page.

The reason the pills are legal is that they contain no THC, the cannabinoid responsible for the ‘high’ dope smokers feel.

Instead, the pills contain CBD, a different cannabinoid also found in cannabis, which advocates claim can help with chronic pain, anxiety and even severe illness.

Although not recognised by the medical establishment, CBD products have become sought-after as an alternative treatment for a range of conditions including cancer.

Earlier this summer, Charlotte’s Web, a cannabis oil rich in CBD went on sale in Europe.

Sophie Macken at the Independent Scientific Committee on Drugs, toldMetro.co.uk last year, “CBD is legal and has some therapeutic and neuroprotective properties.”
